Three of the 15 hydroelectric power plants managed by Kruger Energy in Maine secured a major certification from the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission (NHPUC).

The Damariscotta (462 kW), Pittsfield (1,050 kW) and Brown’s Mill (670 kW) power plants were recognized by the NHPUC as being renewable sources of energy.

All three power plants obtained this certification primarily because each has fish passages that allow migratory fish to move up- or downriver around their dams.

With this certification, the power plants will be able to accumulate Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), which represent the environmental, social and other attributes of the power produced from renewable energy projects.
