KRUGER ENERGY A MERCURIADES FINALIST
Kruger Energy is a finalist in the 2014 edition of the Mercuriades Competition in the “Sustainable Development” category, in recognition of its wind farm in Montérégie. The news was released on March 10, 2014, during a presentation by the Fédération des Chambres de Commerce du Québec (Québec federation of chambers of commerce – FCCQ), in the presence of Françoise Bertrand, FCCQ’s CEO.
The Mercuriades, a prestigious business competition in Québec, has been held by the FCCQ since 1981. Now in its 34th year, the Mercuriades is a must-attend event for business and entrepreneurship groups, and companies of all sizes across all industries covet its awards.
Kruger Energy’s Montérégie Wind Farm consists of 44 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 100 MW of renewable energy. Commissioned in December 2012, the Montérégie Wind Farm Project was the subject of 25 public consultations before and during its construction. As well, the wind farm welcomed over 2,800 visitors during two Open Houses held in 2012 and 2013.
By putting social acceptance at the centre of its concerns, Kruger Energy has developed an approach that places its relationship with residents and communities ahead of all decisions affecting its projects, whether during the design, construction or operating phases.
