ORGANIZATION PROFILE
THREE GENERATIONS OF THE KRUGER FAMILY
Joseph Kruger founded the Company in 1904 by establishing a
fine paper business in Montreal. Gene H. Kruger, son of the
founder, became President in 1928 at the age of 25 and expanded
the company into manufacturing newsprint, paperboard and tissue.
A dynamic entrepreneur, Gene H. Kruger made Kruger what it
is today: an innovative organization focused on quality, technology
and productivity.
As Chairman of the Board and C.E.O. for the last 20 years,
Joseph Kruger II, Gene’s son, has overseen the modernization
of the company and its continual expansion into forest and wood
products, specialty publication papers, North American Tissue
manufacturing, recycling and energy including hydroelectric
plants, wind farms and biomass cogeneration (www.krugerenergy.com,

with special emphasis on the environment. More recently a 7th
business unit, Wines and Spirits, was formed following the acquisition
of the Maison des Futailles (www.futailles.com,
